Charcoal, pastel, foam core
A project devised to explore the relationship between process and finished product; this piece started and ended with a pile of foam core. Topographically reconstructed, the pile is small and disheveled compared to sixteen large drawings which illustrate one step of the process. The drawings represent the layers of the sculpture, encapsulated in foam- a step necessary to slice the pile into layers. Through the inclusion of these drawings the work bears a partial record of it's own making.
