Project Objective
Design a cohesive and accessible signage system for Belchertown conservation land that enhances visitor experience, supports environmental education, and promotes safety and stewardship.

My Role & Process
I created a comprehensive series of friendly and approachable signs designed for families and all visitors. The system includes large trailhead signs with maps and safety messages, smaller signs detailing safety guidelines, trail regulations, and local plant information, as well as directional trail markers to help visitors navigate the area.

To improve accessibility, the signs incorporate an orange square marking where Braille placards are installed. Additionally, I developed editable templates for smaller signs so conservation staff can create new signage that stays consistent with the system.

The visual design uses clear typography, colors that pop, and inviting graphics to encourage responsible enjoyment and protection of the land.

Impact
The signage system has enhanced visitor understanding, improved trail navigation, and increased awareness of environmental stewardship, contributing to safer and more informed use of Belchertown’s conservation lands.

Deliverables
Large trailhead signs · Safety and regulation signs · Informational plant signs · Directional markers · Editable templates for future signs
